Current Adoption Classes
Colorado Adoption Consultants currently is currently offering the following adoption classes:

CORE Adoption Training (16 hours)

This sixteen hour CORE Adoption Training class focuses on adoption and adoption related issues involved in parenting a child through adoption.  The training class size is small, and it is designed to be interactive, current and focused on each participant's individual adoption needs.  This sixteen hour adoption training class covers adoption topics mandated by the State of Colorado for adoptive parents in international and domestic adoptions.  The topics included in this adoption class, but are not limited to, attachment and bonding, grief and loss issues, adoption as a life long issue, key concepts of child growth and development, boundary setting and discipline, parenting a child of a different cultural or racial background, and medical issues.

Cost:                       $380 couple, $190 single

International Adoption Training (4 hours)

This class discusses the long term implications for a family that has become multicultural through international adoption.  It includes discussion on the following:

·         The child’s history and cultural, racial, religious, ethnic and linguistic background;

·         Cultural heritage of the child including the available community resources;

·         The impact on a child leaving familiar surrounding as appropriate to the expected age of the child;

·         The impact of frequent moves and multiple caregivers on the development of a child, and the impact of institutionalization on children; 

·         Parenting a child that has been abused or neglected;

·         Parenting the physically, mentally or developmentally or emotionally delayed child.

 

Each family will complete an assignment prior to attending the class.

 

Cost:                       $90 couple, $45 single - workbook is included if you have attended the CORE Adoption Training, otherwise the cost of the workbook is $15 (to be mailed after registration is received)

*Cancellations less than two weeks prior to class are non-refundable; however, payment can be applied to a class at a future date.  Cancellations made greater than two weeks prior will receive a full refund minus a $25 processing fee, or the full payment can be applied to a class at a future date.   

**Class may be postponed to the following month if an insufficient number of participants are registered.  Registrants will be notified and payments can be applied to a future class.
